A laconic review of the poetic works of Abdul Bari Aseer

This study reports a laconic review of the poetic works of Abdul Bari Aseer, an eminent figure among poets of south Pashtunkhwa. Data reveals that a note of social responsibility, self-conscious, runs through Aseer’s poetic art dealing with different social issue as such; corruption, bribery, dowry, moral decline, drug addiction, ignorance, injustice, and the erosion of cultural and ethical values. Aseer satirizes social evils using symbolic elements for ethical reformation and social awareness. His poetic works focuse on social justice, honesty, the need for learning, respect for women, self-responsibility and divine values. Aseer is not only a critic but he is also a preacher of practical life, moral values, and human empathy. Hence, findings reveal that Aseer’s poetry is of reformative nature that teaches ethical principles in a pretty literary frame. His poetic works may have significance position in Pashto literature.
