ENGLISH: Championing Equality: A Liberating Feminist Discourse in 'I Am Malala'

This paper aims to explore the elements of liberal feminism in I AM MALALA the memoir of the youngest Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai. The paper critically examines her memoir to examine the unheard voices, gender inequality, and patriarchy and marginalized societies in Pakistan. Malala faced adverse challenges imposed by a patriarchal society but raised her voice against ongoing discrimination and the Taliban’s onslaught against girl’s education. Her journey for the cause of girl’s education remained resilient and determined. This paper emphasizes on finding out the contributing factors in her journey of a liberal feminist. In the context of Mary Wollstonecraft, and Betty Friedan’s liberal Feminist framework, this paper unveils Malala’s struggle in advocating women’s rights and critically evaluates Malala’s courageous defiance of oppressive society and system. The book ‘I am Malala’ emerges as a liberal feminist discourse championing equality.
